As the Chief Engineer aboard the Star Ship Voyager, originaly a member of the Maquis, she has had a troubles past. As a half Human/Klingon, life has never been easy for B'Elanna.

Born on a colony called Kessik IV, her human father left her and her mother when she was five, and her mother was very hard on her, always pushing her to be more Klingon.

Everyone she met always seemed to either think her too Human or too Klingon, and she was often ridiculed. Her self-esteem dwindled almost into non-extince.

She was accepted into the Starfleet Academy and went there, angering her mother greatly, but dropped out after a couple years, turning to the Maquis.The former Maquis captain, now Voyager's first officer, Chakotay, is her best friend. Apparently, he saved her life.

When Voyager and the Maquis ship were flung across the galaxy, into the Delta Quadrent, she was taken hostage by the Kazon, with Voyager's ops officer and now one of her best friends, Hary Kim.

When they were rescued, B'Elanna was made Chief Engieer. Tom Paris, being Hary's friend, became her friend also. At first, she saw him as a pig and didn't hesitate to tell him so.

But, over time, they developed a deep friendship, and now, thanks to an exploding shuttle and malfuctioning EVA suits, something more.

In the time Voyager has been in the Delta Quadrent, her self esteem has grown, and she has finaly felt how it is to be loved. She still has that firey temper, but has learned how to keep it in check. Well, most of the time anyhow.

As the Head CONN Officer (or pilot) and the son of Admril Owen Paris, Tom comes from a high ranking family. He spent the first part of his life trying to please his father, though it seemed impossible.

He was accepted into, and graduated from, the Starfleet Acadamy, and has always had a love for flying, much to the displeasure of his father who wanted him to eventually have his own command.

Then, one year, he was on some sort of a mission at Cadilac Prime where three of his friends were killed, because of him. He falsified reports, but eventually confessed. Then he joined the Maquis and on his first mission, got caught. He was sentanced to life in prison.(If you have any more info about this part in Tom's life, please fill me in! Thanks!)

From there, Captain Janeway picked him up, to take him on a mission as an offical Observer to find a Maquis ship in the Badlands.Then the Voyager and the Maquis ship were flung across the galaxy, into the Delta Quadrent.

By this time, he had developed a mask of sorts to cover up his true feelings. Therefore, he appeared as cocky, arrogant, anoying to some and, of course, your typical ladies man.

Because of his exceptional piloting skills, he was made the head CONN Officer of Voyager, a suiting role, I think.

He made fast friends with Hary Kim, the opps officer, and therefore B'Elanna because she was also Hary's friend. Paris had quite a few 'relationships', if you can call them that, but eventually began to persue B'Elanna, who immedeitly brushed him off, calling him a "pig".

He kept persuing her, never giving up, and they are currently dating (YES!).

In the time Voyager has been in the Delta Quadrent, Tom has matured alot and his mask of sorts has deteriorated somewhat. He has become a better person, and it shows in everything he does. He's also not so anoying anymore, though sometimes his jokes make me question that.
